I’ve liked reading Cringely for a while – and would love to watch his Plane Crazy show sometime, but can’t find a copy reasonably priced. He also wrote back to me when I was laid off last year, giving me some hope of helping me find a job within his huge valley network. Never heard back to him after I sent my resume. Oh well. Still a fan. Can’t take it personally if he thinks I’m not worth recommending. Right?

Last week, he wrote about how to fight phishing – which is a pretty interesting idea. They make money by sending out a million emails and getting 100 people to fill in their info. Well, all we need to do is goto the phishing folk’s forms and fill them in with bogus info. So they get thousands of forms filled out but only 100 are legit. We need to make it less lucrative for them.

Sounds right to me. The time I spend with ebay fraud thinking they’re tracking down those emails is wasted. Might as well use that time to fill in a few forms with made up info and waste some of their time instead.
