So Catherine bought a bunch of educational “toys” for Sal. Without any consultation. I wonder if they were more expensive than the wooden block cars I wanted? That she shot down? Hmm…the packing slips are right here…
Anyway, at first glance, they toys don’t seem that interesting. I think we could have gotten more Duplo Lego Train set pieces. She makes some comment about educational toys. I think – how educational are the toys when they sit in the corner of the closet all the time. But I don’t say anything.
They play for a little while and I go in and ask – Are they good? And she says “The peg board is the best. Well, not construction wise…” and we had a little more chitchat. Again with the educational thing about spatial abilities.
And I start thinking of a game/toy that I saw as a kid, but never had. I thought it was called Concentration – but a couple quick searches make me think otherwise. It was yellow. With red pieces of various shapes. The game board has a timer and you depress it and when the time runs out, all the pieces pop out of the board. Unless, maybe you put all the pieces in. I don’t remember if you could defuse the popping action.
Anyway – I think that’d be a good spatial recognition motor skills stress management things popping up all over the place toy. Just need someone to help me out and tell me what the name of it is.
Thanks!
i dont think this is what u meant, but i was reminded of the old game “operation”:

yeah, Kate had that one, it made her nervous when the timer goes off.
Heh… Perfection made my list of “Toys to get a kid if you’re mad at their parents”. Loud, messy, frustrating… other things on that list
1) Drum Set
Didn’t Banjoman just have this inflicted upon him?
2) Don’t Break The Ice
Takes like 30 minutes to assemble the damn thing, and no kid can do it. Then most kids break it in about 3 turns, and are back to have it reassembled.
3) Harmonica
See drum set. Poorly, but loudly, played harmonica is killer
