Kettlebell class got interesting tonight. Lots of mind games. Instructor dude talking about how he thinks we can do the 32 snatches with each hand back to back. Sets the expectation for success.
Then moves me and Chuck up to the 53 pound bell. Which, really wasn’t that tough. Now, I couldn’t do 3 presses with it with my left arm, but that’s fine. It’s day one.
Next week, homework is to bring a 53 pounder of our own. Kind of crazy…but in that fun, nutty workout way. I’m always exhausted and sore after class. Instructor dude talked about how to get “certified” in this stuff, I’ll need to do like 42 or 52 (cause I’m so heavy) in each hand with the 53 pounder. Then do 200 snatches in 10 minutes. And then 300 in 15 minutes. He said only 7 or 8 of his students have done the snatch test.
Someone asked how come so few? They give up. Their minds were weak.
Ha. I loved that one. Another subtle little comment. Not better than “this isn’t a Ken and Barbie workout” but just enough to keep me interested. I’ll be around. We’ll see what these 53 pounders do.
Plus it’s fun calling the 35 pound bells “the little guys”.
