So browse Seth’s blog about Lenny Levine, a school teacher who’s motto was “You can’t say you can’t play” – which is a pretty good motto to avoid keeping people on the outside and learning openness.
So I wonder if this Lenny is a well known Lenny. Searching for him, I find this strange article written by Robert Levine and referencing a friend called Lenny.
Lenny’s into saying “Compared to what?” as a response to lots of things. Which just goes to point out how relative things are. How relative our joys and fears and pleasures are.
But the article ends with a depressing note – about how after a good day, the next day starts out just about average again. Perhaps because our standard has been raised. Yet after a bad day, the next day tends to start off a bit worse.
That might be true for me. I think that’s sad. I wonder how to change that.
The article also comments on how the pleasure gained from event is not equal to the suffering from an equal loss. The loss is harder. Losing 100 dollars is worse than gaining 100.
I think I better start winning more raquetball games…just in case.
