So, quite a night with this little guy. The football game, though the Pats won, at least it was kind of thrilling for someone rooting against them (or for them I suppose too). But Sal missed it all. Here’s why:
I get home, get settled, talk to Moms on the phone and 2 minutes later, Sal’s wet his pants. He’s not sure why. Just happens. He’s excited about the prospect of a bath. I’m getting suspicious that he’s wetting his pants to have a bath.
Anyway, we head out to dinner. He’s drowsy – no nap today. Nanny did that to help me out, to get him to bed earlier…but it looks like it’s backfiring. He’s falling asleep on the way to dinner. I give him gum, hoping that’ll wake him up. Does for 2 street lights. He’s knocked out when we park. I ask him to spit out his gum – that got him all fired up and crying while I was in Chicago…this time, he doesn’t even open his eyes as he hands me his gum.
I eat dinner with him asleep in my lap.
We get home and I put him in his bed. Turn around to get him a diaper, cause he can’t make the whole night. When I turn back around, he’s in Child’s Pose. He’s got Downward Dog nailed too. I think he’s too cute to disturb, so I lay down next to him for a minute. Rub his back – boy – he sweat a lot in his car seat, cause my hand gets a little wet. Tough life, burning all that energy growing while sleeping.
Okay – time to roll him over and change him. Nuts – that wasn’t sweat – he wet his pants while sleeping in the Child’s Pose. Freaking crazy. 2 hours, wets himself twice. At least the nanny’s keeping him well hydrated huh?
I think the dog helped me the most at the these times. Not getting upset. Realizing it’s not the kid’s/dog’s fault, but my fault for not providing the right support. It ain’t easy having that perspective all the time, but that perspective helps to keep things relatively calm and stressfree. Just ain’t easy.
Bonus fact – since he went to sleep at 6pm, we’ll be waking up around 4am. Maybe 5am if I’m lucky. Gonna go put the laundry into the dryer and hope I can fall asleep and catchup.
Anyone still want a kid?
Sounds cute…yeah he was pretty worn down..came to our house for a little while today too to have a playdate with V. Let me know if there’s anything u need help with or whatevers. Hope that he doesn’t wake up earlier because he’s hungry. Did u see the Santa pics? haha…cute pic of Sal with Santa!
