So – the whole reason I got into Jain was cause of Nivita. And she’s been scheduling our fasts. Turns out, she had a burrito the night of our last fast. Uh huh. I can’t believe it.

She said she was disappointed too.

I pointed out – vegetarian burritos are never satisfying.

Which brings us to tonight.  Tonight Salvador was sifting through his alphabet cookies and I asked him “What’s the square root of E over m?”  (Catherine and I have had some interesting conversations around teaching Salvador math lately, so this was me trying to make a point. More on this later – apparently, again, I need to read a book before I can have an opinion of the book. That’s what I get for asking “Do the authors have PhDs?”)

Anyway, moments later, Sal wandered over with a big C cookie, offering it to me.

I was pretty proud of him. So proud, I almost ate it. But I’m fasting which means no burritos and no little cookies. I think they’re healthy kid cookies too – so it probably didn’t taste that good either.

He was pretty happy to get the cookie back.  Catherine’s saying that he’s overloaded his signs – and “more” is also used for “cookie” now.  I guess that’s efficient.  Quick little learner and optimizer.

So I sent him off in search of Avogadro’s constant.

  1. i’m still bummed i couldn’t do the last one. tomorrow’s the last fast. it’s the last day of paryushan. i’m fasting. will do it this time – no matter how awful i feel.

  2. not really overloading the sign. cookie has one thumb pressed into the other hands palm. he seems to have trouble doing this so he puts his index finger into his palm instead.

his more is a repetitive poking of the palm.
