So, besides Sunday being Sal’s birthday, where he raked in the loot, Spiderman gave me a Father’s Day gift too. (Catherine did get me a couple of breakfast value meals from Burger King – big smiles!)  Though, the gift, was perfect in thought, I think I just might not ever use it.

It was The Moment of Truth home game.  Now, I love the show.  “Do you think you’re a good person?” are wonderful questions to tempt people when you have a chance of winning money.  And it’s even a funny home game type of question. Plus, the “lie detector” is just a green plastic button that beeps a bit and is just as accurate as a magic 8-ball.  (Sal does enjoy it though – because he heard it was a “tv game”.  He’ll sit with the lie detector on the couch and ask for the tv to be turned on, so we can play.)

Anyway I just glanced at the questions on the card in the pack and they could lead to some trouble:

  • Are you more comfortable around friends that you know are not as attractive as you are?
  • Did you ever tell your wife you had to work late when in fact you were doing something else?
  • Are you sexually attracted to any of your bf/gf/spouse’s siblings?

Bonus questions – because I accidentally opened up the pack of cards…

  • Do you ever avoid going home because your partner nags or degrades you?  (Or demands you play Moment of Truth?)
  • Have you ever lied to your spouse about how much money you have?  (I assume they’re saying you’d lie about having more money…not less money…but either counts, right?)
  • Do you think your mother loves your siblings more than she loves you?

Now, remember again, that your lie detector is basically a coin flip.  And the truth of your answer is being judged by that coin.  This game can only lead to trouble.  No 100k payout.  Just trouble. Big big big time trouble. Even on the show, when they win the money, there is usually damage control that needs to be done.  Here, there’s nothing but damage control – caused by a 2 AAA beeping device.

The Newlywed game was fun – just talking about Whoopee and maybe sharing an extra embarrassing fact here and there.  No questions focused on destroying relationships.  And you could just flat out lie. So I’d play that again.  But this game is just purely focused on evil – which I can appreciate – from a distance. Even if it came with the “Shocking Liar” (which looks like fun and I just coincidentally saw on Mojo HD) – the game is still dangerous.

Really bad product to have in the house.

Great gift to give though.
